Photography Locations
I have many spots locally around Fresno that I like to shoot at. If you have a location you would like to use for your portrait session, that is of course perfectly fine. I do suggest the locations below simply because I know I can shoot their most any time of the day and get good images with good lighting. The locations below are also what you see in my portfolio, so you can be sure that you are going to get good photos. I typically do not tell people exactly where I shoot at here on my web site. The reason for that is I do not want other photographers poaching my hot spots. Many photographers already know most of the locations shoot at, but why make it harder to get alone time with these locations? I will send all directions prior to the shoot so no worries there.
Location # 1 "The Secret Garden" Old Town Clovis
Old Town Clovis is a great spot. Many photographers use it. There are a few spots in particular that I like to use. There are some very nice industrial backdrops that make for a perfect outdoor studio. The lighting is almost always good and you can be sure that there is always something nice to photograph against. Some of the locations are not accessible on weekends. I am currently working with property owners to allow for that
The spot to the left is a great place, It is a small area with huge potential. There is a fireplace with ivy, a table and chair setting, and many other cool angles to shoot from.

The image to the right is another great spot in the location #1 of Old Town Clovis.
Location # 2 River
This is one spot Not many people really know about. I have driven by this one countless times only to recently discover it to be a hidden gem. This spot is very outdoorsy and rustic. There is some fall color. There is bathrooms available. This is a good spot for families or individual shots. This nice spot is really not that far away for most Fresno residents and no more than a 30 minute drive from the furthest places in town. Most of us can make it in 15 - 20 minutes.

Location # 3 Down Town Fresno
Down Town Fresno is kind of vague, and I'd like to keep it that way. Some of my spots are as obvious as can be and there is no need for secrecy and then others are just a secret till you get to shoot with me. I have found some incredible back drops and still looking for more. This part of town is perfect for people with more of an edge or looking for more of a commercial look to their portraits.
The image to the left is a large graffiti wall with many ranges of color and photo opportunities.

This shot to the left was taken at the same wall above. The wall is perfect for nearly anytime of the day after noon in the fall and winter months.
Location # 4 Shaver Lake
In Shaver Lake there is a great little park not really a secret, but it is often passed by and not thought of as a good place for photos. There is a very small window of time for photos on this location. There is a patch of Aspen trees in the fall that really give off a lot of color and offer a great backdrop.
Location # 5 Woodward Park
Woodward Park is without question one of the most over photographed locations in Fresno. There is many good locations, but the place can often be a zoo. The weekends are hard to get a spot that is clear of people. The fall offers the best photos. Summer is less than desirable here. The Shin zen Japanese Gardens is a hot spot for shooting. Hours vary and always a hit and miss. Sometimes you literally have to wait your turn in line for a spot to get photographs there. This is not one of my favorite locations for those reasons. Woodward is best shot during the week when families are not present.
This shot to the left and above were shot on the same day in Woodward Park. Again, fall is the best time of the year to shoot here. Dress in fall colors, dark reds, blacks, browns, burgundy's etc.
Location # 6 Carmel
Carmel is one of my favorite places on earth. I love it there. The weather can be tricky so certain times of the year are best. The mornings are often foggy but still some nice times to shoot images. There is a perfect beach location (pictured left) that is great for candid walks on the beach, The beach is clean, quiet and perfect for the more quiet of souls.
Location # 7 Copper River Country Club
Copper River Country Club is always a great place for that portrait on an architectural background. The light is usually good the latter part of the day just before sunset. Any other time of the day is a little rough. There are many angles to shoot here. Large groups or individuals work well here.
Location # 8 Santa Cruz CA
Santa Cruz is a great spot to get some nice beach and sunset photos. There is a lot of opportunity to get some nice photos with boats in the back ground in the harbor. If you are a coastal type person and have a day trip planned, this place may work well for a session. We are in the works of planning an all day session here taking hour long sessions here. We will keep in touch with you on this one.
